Welcome to the Montrose Regional Health Family Center where we have been celebrating new life and serving the community since 1949. 

The Family Center is a warm and friendly environment staffed by an excellent and caring group of nurses, midwives and doctors. Our goal is to provide a healthy, safe and personal experience for you and your family. Your childbirth is unique, and we desire to accommodate your needs.

Maternal and Infant Care Quality Champion designation means Montrose Regional Health has access to the most current data and best practices and resources available, and our hospital is leading the way for the safest, healthiest outcomes for Colorado’s pregnant and postpartum people, infants, and their families. We have received awards for our outstanding breastfeeding support and we are well below the national average for Cesarean sections. Additionally, the Family Center has received awards for our participation in the SOAR (SuppOrting vAginal delivery for low-Risk mothers) program.

What to Expect

The Family Center has four large birthing suites where family members and friends can take part in your care. A Jacuzzi tub is available to you during your labor, and comfort measures are sustained throughout your labor experience. We also support alternative labor methods such as aromatherapy, labor ball, peanut ball, breathing techniques, and various positions.

We consistently follow baby-friendly guidelines to help keep you and your baby together through the entire process. In addition, you can feel confident in your care with pediatricians that round twice a day to assess your and your baby’s health and wellness.

Looking for guaranteed midwife delivery? We are proud to offer our moms 24/7 midwife care access, in addition to our skilled OBGYN providers. We are here for your childbirth & postpartum health.

Security and safety are important to us. A state-of-the-art monitoring system is utilized during labor to ensure your baby’s wellbeing. As a standard of care to ensure safety, our unit is locked, and infants are given security bracelets upon arrival. Additionally, our operating rooms are located adjacent to the Family Center should they be needed in an emergent situation.

Our level II nursery is fully equipped to care for newborns needing supplemental oxygen, intravenous therapies, or specialized feedings. We are prepared to care for babies born as early as 34 weeks gestation. Typically, healthy newborns room with their mothers.

Through a partnership with Birthly, Montrose Regional Healh offers its patients free access to a variety of perinatal education classes virtually. Classes include Early Pregnancy Preparations, Prenatal Education Bootcamp, Coping and Comfort, and more! Since each class type is offered multiple times a month, patients now have more flexibility in choosing a time that fits their schedule and can connect from the comfort of their own home. Additionally, some classes are available in Spanish.

Anesthesia is available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your nurse will ask what your plans are upon arrival at the Family Center. Our anesthesiologists and certified nurse anesthetists are available to place epidurals day or night. We are also able to provide you with nitrous upon request for your comfort.
