State-of-the-Art Equipment and Technology

Aquablation Therapy

Aquablation therapy is a new type of surgical treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). At Montrose Regional Health, we are proud to be among the first in the Western Slope to offer this advanced, minimally invasive treatment.

We are excited to offer Aquablation therapy at Montrose Regional Health, because we believe in helping men suffering from BPH to get their life back and feel like themselves again.

We know choosing a treatment option can be overwhelming, as it often forces men to compromise in some way. This could mean not responding well to medication, or choosing a treatment that only provides limited relief, that may have a long recovery time, or that may even cause issues with sexual function.

Aquablation therapy is a one-of-a-kind procedure that aims to minimize this compromise.

DaVinci Robotic Surgical System’s Minimally Invasive Procedures

MRH features the da Vinci Xi – the most advanced robotic-assisted surgical technology on the Western Slope. New features associated with the Xi model benefit surgeons during procedures, and provide a safer & shorter surgical experience for patients.

Our highly skilled surgeons use the advanced da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system to perform minimally invasive procedures. The robot is a virtual extension of the surgeon’s hands and eyes which provides greater dexterity and visualization than open or laparoscopic procedures provide, and patients have less pain.

Patients experience shorter hospital stays and faster recovery. This technology represents a significant advance for surgery. Surgeons who specialize in gynecology, urology and general surgery at Montrose Memorial Hospital use the da Vinci surgical system.

“I had very little pain from the small incisions after my hysterectomy and it was pretty amazing how good I felt after a major surgery,” said a local very happy and satisfied patient.

ExcelsiusGPS and Excelsius3D

ExcelsiusGPS™ is the next revolution in robotic spine surgery from Globus Medical, a developer of spinal and orthopedic implants and surgical instruments for patients with spine disorders. ExcelsiusGPS™ is designed to improve accuracy and optimize patient care by using robotics and navigation, much like a GPS in your car. On the day of surgery medical images are taken and imported into ExcelsiusGPS™. The surgeon uses these images to determine the size and placement of implants and creates a patient plan based on your anatomy. This is used to guide the rigid robotic arm to a specific region of your spine, similar to a planned route or pathway on a GPS. The surgeon uses this pathway or route to accurately place the implants using instruments. Throughout the procedure, the surgical instruments and implants are continuously displayed on the screen for the surgeon and staff to monitor. This display allows the surgeon to view live feedback during your procedure for more precise implant placement.

The Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology

The Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology transforms the way total hip and knee replacements are performed. Mako Technology utilizes CT-based 3D modeling of bone anatomy to create a personalized surgical plan and identify the implant size, orientation and alignment based on each patient’s unique anatomy.

The result is a custom surgical experience tailored to each patient. The Mako helps develop a 3D model of the patient’s knee or hip structure, which demonstrates where and how much damage has occurred. This serves as a strong foundational guide for the surgery plan and allows the surgeon to examine the procedure in Mako’s virtual software before making any incisions.

The surgeon remains in control of the procedure, aided by precise measurements from Mako. This can result in a more predictable surgical experience and increased accuracy. The Orthopaedic Surgeons utilize Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted technology at Montrose Regional Health.
