MONTROSE, CO – On March 27, Montrose Regional Health successfully completed their first robotic bronchoscopy procedure with the newly acquired Galaxy System by Noah Medical. The Galaxy System features a robotic bronchoscopy device designed to detect lung cancer with improved accuracy and efficiency compared to alternative modern technologies. Montrose Regional Health is the first medical facility in the state of Colorado to acquire and implement this groundbreaking robotic system for early lung cancer detection.
With the assistance of the Galaxy System, physicians at Montrose Regional Health are now able to diagnose and treat lung nodules much sooner while reducing the potential for infection using the system’s single-use bronchoscope. “Lung cancer is a terrible disease that affects far too many members of our communities,” said Dr. Hersh, Pulmonologist at Montrose Regional Health. “The key to lung cancer treatment is early detection—before cancer can grow and spread. The Galaxy System will help our patients receive the most accurate results possible, improving their prognosis.”
The Galaxy System by Noah Medical is a state-of-the-art platform designed in collaboration with physicians that allows them to navigate to and locate lung nodules with precision. Its “Tool-in- Lesion” TiLT+™ Technology has been shown to achieve 100% successful navigation to lung lesions and 100% precise positioning once inside the lesion. Once the abnormal tissue is located and examined, the Galaxy System has a 95% chance of determining a useful diagnosis, also known as “diagnostic yield.”
Montrose Regional Health has been diligent in utilizing the most advanced medical technology currently available to provide quality care for their patients. In addition to the Galaxy System, MRH has implemented the daVinci, Excelsius, and Mako robotic surgical systems for precise and minimally invasive treatment options.
